Update from Goals 101

App idea

Over the last seven weeks I was distracted by my new job and the guys over at Udacity were teaching me a thing or two about building search engines and autonomous cars. While I will also be working on a LEGO MINDSTORM autonomous car, I have an app idea.

The app still has yet to have a working title, but idea goes like this: the game will be based on making a character that looks like you. It will be the same age as you, do the same things you do, and it knows this because the user puts in what their accomplishments are. Over the course of adding accomplishments you will be given xp and game currency.

Basically, it's a MMORPG that compares players based off their real life. Sure they could completely lie, but that wouldn't be as much fun. And what it encourages people to do is have new "adventures" everyday. Players can have various meet up spots and characters of similar level can go and do different things that will get them more experience.

Knowledge is power

It's not being told that learning is everything, it's knowing it. Successful people succeed because they have a need for adventure, an urge to wake up and experience something new in the day. A new morning brings new possibilities and to build upon what you learned the day before. Knowledge enables us, it frees us. Always pushing things forward, and making everything better. I'm addicted to learning.
Don't be misconstrued about the definition of knowledge either. While books have some knowledge most knowledge is only learned through experience. The experience of a first kiss or a drug, it's different for everyone but everyone's experienced it.

Go forth

Learn something new today. Be different in some way. You'll be happy you did. I know I am.

Setting Goals 101

I have been in college for the last 3 years of my life. I don't want to list the college I am attending because frankly, I hate it. Don't get me wrong, it's legit for some people. But it's not for me. I love learning but what they teach is not my style.

So I have set a goal for myself: In the next 2 months I will be doing enough independent jobs and random other things so that my cashflows allow me to quit school.

I have many ideas on how this is possible. This blog being one of them. But now throughout the next two months I will let you follow my dreams and goals and step by step we will make it out of school. It won't be easy, because I will still be trying to get straight A's in school while getting all my ideas off the ground. But it will be worth the while if I can quit school by December 31st, 2011.

So far this is what I have come up with and I will keep updating you all on how each goal is coming along.

  • Become an Android developer
  • Become a Facebook app developer
  • Make several blogs
  • Make several websites
  • Start a business
  • Join the stock Market
  • Buy and sell real estate
It's a nice tiered system. Start with free and see where that gets me, then build up to more complex things as each gets more successful. Once again: IT WILL NOT BE EASY! Nothing worth doing ever is. While the ideas are vague now, they will only get better the more I work on them and the more work I put in. The first part, making Android applications, is already proving to be extremely difficult seeing as how I can't get eclipse to run...
